Yesterday, the Government introduced the single biggest piece of child protection legislation in a generation.

I spoke in support of the measures which will reform children's social care and increase support for care-leavers, improving outcomes for these children and young people and stopping taxpayers getting ripped off by private providers.

This Bill also includes:

  • Free breakfast clubs in primary schools

  • A limit on branded school uniform items

  • Stronger safeguards on home education

  • The strongest child protection reforms in a generation

  • An end to private providers charging local councils extortionate rates for children’s social care

  • Better support for care leavers
